It's very prevalent in our local culture to welcome everyone into our homes and invite them to eat a hardy Midwestern plate of meat, potatoes, and other garden veggies. My father's mother, my Grandma Cea, is well-known in our community for driving plates across town for fellow church parishioners, nursing home residents, and sometimes complete strangers. My son, depicted, is finding out too that it's nearly impossible to leaving Grandma Cea's without a full belly and contented heart.

Although I'm not from the midwest, seeing an image like this just makes me think of home and the comfort of eating with your family. I love that photography can help us bring feelings of familiarity even if we have never met the people in a photograph. Lovely, funny moment between family, Emma. Well done and thank you for taking me home for a few minutes!
