One of my favorite places on earth is Sanibel Island in Southwest Florida. A haven for nature lovers of every ilk, it is home to some of our countries most celebrated beaches and nature preserves. This photograph of a roseate spoonbill was taken at Ding Darling preserve. Just after sunrise, it landed in a pond right in front of me, walked among the nearby herons and egrets, and then promptly took to the air.
