    on the island of Burano near Venice, colorful architecture is a custom taken seriously - colors of homes are assigned by local government, to preserve tradition. According to legend, fishermen painted homes different bright colors to see them from far in the sea. Local resident and her garden

    I love all the colors filling throughout the frame. This is lovely interpretation of how to "rethink" portraiture because this isn't just a portrait of this local woman, but of the neighborhood and the history of the island.
