I wish I had a cool story to go with this photo, but I only have a sad one. This place used to be a beautiful mountain village in Romania, named Geamana. Back in 1978 the Communist regime forced residents to leave their homes and make way to toxic waste from a nearby mining pit. There are still some families over there, that live 100 meters from the toxic waste, cultivate the land and eat the crops.
