This scene presented itself from far below the highway in southern Serbia so I had one moment's chance to snag the striking couple before the car's speed took me down the road. I imagined caring for the family cow to be a productive use of time while pondering some future date when I too may be put out to pasture. Faded jeans add a certain something I find important to the picture. The Balkan Peninsula holds many wonders for a foreigner like me.
