Each traditional farmhouse in the Alps had a parlor called "Stub´n", a heated living room, where the social life of the family took place. The family members met at the table to eat together, talk and spend time with needlework, handcrafts or the like. Mostly this was the most beautiful room, the only that was pleasantly warm and the pride of the family. Even today, there are cozy parlors in many farms and traditional restaurants - certainly a loved place for many to spend time together.
