On the banks of the Ganges, the "Ganga Aarti" or Hindu ceremony of offering to the Mother River is celebrated every day. at sunset. 5 members of the priestly caste (or Brahmins) are placed on altars adorned with flowers and carpets between the smell of incense and the sound of mantras and drums.
