Fissure 17 is still located in an unpopulated pasture in Lanipuna Gardens, distanced northeast and away from Puna Geothermal Venture. Fissure 17 is ejecting aerial spatter and lava bombs observed at ~1,000ft high, complimented in intensity by violent jetting and heavy dispersal of smoke and gas. Surrounding Fissures 16 and 18 lay quiet as the flow front of Fissure 17 travels toward Highway 137 in the direction of Kapoho Cone.
