Kalaripayattu is a martial art which originated in northern Kerala in south India. It is considered to be one of the oldest surviving fighting systems in the world. On a trip to my home town of thiruvanthapuram (August 24, 2017), I visited a kalari training center where at the crack of dawn, aspiring fighters were practising this ancient art.
