    Reported by:

On the photo Lydia Smolnikova and her great-granddaughter. Lidia on this day turned 90 years old, her children and grandchildren gathered to congratulate her and cover the festive table. But she felt badly and, believefully, did not want a holiday. This moment in the photo seemed to me very dramatic, the confrontation of the old and new generation.

I love Your Shot photographer Sukanya De’s comment: “The detachment and lack of emotions is expressed brilliantly in the scene. Loneliness versus togetherness, real interaction versus virtual, old versus new ideologies and such many opposite emotions crop up in a sublime yet powerful way in this moment!! Love the tones, textures and excellent use of light. The empty plates on the table add to the ironic interpretation of the title 'Celebration' in this fascinating visual story!!”
