"I want to be photographed with my father", she said to me after agreeing to a portrait. When taking portraits, the patter of feet running over is to be expected as suddenly your frame fills with smiling brothers, mothers and cousins. The Nepali people place a huge value on family. Since my friend Nafisha was a child, she has called her parents "Auntie" and "Uncle" because they used to work at an orphanage and she never wanted the other kids to feel her relationship with them was any different.
