    The other breeding alcid on the Machias Seal island is the Razorbill (Alca torda). This is another bird with a massive bill and an upright walk. But instead of flashy red, the razorbill is a showcase in black and white. The most interesting feature of the bird’s breeding plumage is the white line that develops from the upper bridge of the beak to the eye.
