    On the festival of Nag Panchami, the snakes are washed with Milk and worshipped. People pray to Lord Shiva to keep their loved ones guarded against Snakes as during this time of the year snakes come out of their hideouts in search of dry places. In Vadanemmeli Village in Chennai, India there is a co-operative which help save the snakes and protect them.
