Polarized light is just light wiggling its electric field in one plane like waves down a skipping rope. Light gets twisted when it passes through some stressed plastic. With a white laptop screen as the polarized light source and a polarizing filter, banal bits of plastic become extraordinarily beautiful as different colors twist different amounts.
