Every evening as dusk descends on the ancient and the oldest city in the world Varanasi, the excitement and preparations begin on the Dashashwamedh Ghat. The flurry of activities culminates in the Ganga aarti. The aarti is performed on a stage by a group of young handsome pandits, all draped in saffron-colored robes with their puja plates spread out before them. Through the aarti, Agni Pooja is performed in which a commitment is made to Lord Shiva, Mother Ganga, Surya, Agni & the universe
