Edit Photo Details The long wait of the hunters   #fisherman #china #cormorant #protecttheselands
The old fisherman and his cormorants wait patiently for the fishes to attract at the oil lamp in blue hour. Shot taken at a remote part of the Li river, China. This old man is practicing cormorant fishing since his childhood and the technique is almost 1000 years old in that area. The karst mountains and bamboo forest, visible in background, also appear on the Chinese 20 Yuan note. Some places on the earth are just made to be sustained and appreciated for several years.

    Story 2

I was not aware of this practice but it's fascinating. I'm moved by this portrait, that someone this up in years is still having to work so hard to live but that he is not alone in seeking food. This really is a portrait that tells a story.
