In the distance, I caught a glimpse of fur just before it disappeared behind the rolling hills. Upon the next ascent, the muscular arch of her broad shoulders became exposed. The terrain now leveling out, I paused. Coming into focus I noticed a tiny pair of cubs at her side. As the gap between us narrowed with each step, a third cub appeared, then a forth. I made my way into the forest allowing them to continue on, glancing briefly in my direction at the only unobstructed area of the forest.
