Out for a drive in my Jeep on some roads I hadn't traveled before; I stopped for a break, and looking down into this canyon I was amazed by the way the vegetation next to the creek was a deep, lush green. Just a couple of feet away, still green, but not as rich; and then just a few feet farther, everything was brown.
