Today I discovered a new nature center full of walking trails, boardwalks, ponds and marshy areas. With my camera ready for anything that would catch my eye, I found this juvenile wood duck floating peacefully along in a small pond. The day was perfect with a sunny sky and temperatures around 80F. It was a late start to go birding but swans, Canadian geese, mallards and double-crested cormorants are just a sampling of the birds I saw floating or flying overhead. What a great day to be outdoors.
