The Papantla flyers are a traditional figure in Mexico that goes back to Pre-Hispanic America. The man made their rite of climbing to the top of the post and letting themselves fall slowly as a prayer to make it rain in times of drought. It used to be typical of places like Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz but it has spread throughout the country as a traditional act of Mexican culture.
