Ruddy shell ducks are one of the prominent winter migrants in India. Usually they form a long lasting mating pair. In India they breed mainly in Ladakh region. During winter these birds migrate to the warmer areas of India and are found in rivers, reservoirs. I photographed this pair in the riverbed of the Torsa river in coochbehar district of West Bengal.
