Orangutan - Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
'OrangUtan' is derived from the Malay and Indonesian words 'Orang' meaning "person" and hutan meaning "forest", thus "person of the forest".
The orangutans are three extant species of great apes native to Indonesia and Malaysia. Orangutans are currently only found in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra.
Orangutans are among the most intelligent primates.
All three orangutan species are considered to be critically endangered.
