Not far from the Montreal city center, people can test their skills on the river rapids. The very same rapids that prevented the first Europeans from going up river on the water. They received help from the indigenous peoples to find portage routes. I cannot look at this water without thinking of the people that came before. I wish I had the courage to tackle the water myself and reach that minuscule island. What a great feeling it must be to stand there.
