What is Sukkot? IT'S the Jewish festival season - and Sukkot is following fresh on the heels of high holidays Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.   Sukkot is a Jewish holiday which is all about giving thanks for the autumn harvest and commemorating the 40 years Israelis spent wandering the desert after leaving slavery in Egypt. A 'sukkah' is a booth or hut, and 'sukkot' is the plural form of the word - hence the name is a nod to the temporary shelters Jews lived in at this time.
