Monument Valley is so often photographed it is almost cliche. The mesas are so well known to be immediately identifyable by almost all who see them. The colour of the earth and sand are quintessentially southwest USA. In shooting with a fisheye lens, I'd hoped to transform a "old image" into something new. To focus attention on the featureless sky and the fiery sun as it hung over the landscape ... and to draw the viewer more deeply into the familiar landscape.
