I got this shot on a stroke of pure luck while I was driving along the Oregon coast. I heard a faint bark and decided to pull over. These two were sitting so calmly and comfortably, perfectly unbothered by the unruly ocean crashing around them. Even after all the time I’ve spent getting to know the ocean as a friend, she still demands to be awed and feared. The complete lack of the creatures’ matching these feelings is what drew me into this shot.
