I took this image from a boat off the Puna coast on the Big Island of Hawaii during the 2016 Volcanic eruption and lava flow. Shot shortly before sunrise, this image was more difficult to capture than I had imagined as I was shooting in almost complete darkness from a moving, swaying boat. Maintaining a fast shutter speed and a moderate/low ISO was a challenge! What a life changing experience seeing Pele's, fire erupt from beneath the Earth and drip back into the sea.
