Culture cuts deep.
Women of the Hamar tribe in Ethiopia dance and beg to be whipped by the Maza men. This ritual is a show of love by female family members of the boy who is jumping the bulls to become a man. The more scars they attain, the more they love and respect their brother. They do not flinch in pain as they must show their strength. In the future when they need their brothers help, they will show him the scars of the pain they went through for him.
