Loch Coruisk
This is an iconic loch of Scotland located in the Black Cuillin, Isle of Skye. Sir Walter Scott visited the loch in 1812 during a visit to the Western Isles. He appropriately described it as "“rarely human eye has known a scene so stern as that dread lake with its dark ledge of barren stone...”. It is a long, in-land loch measuring 2 miles in length but ~400 yards wide. It can be reached overland from Sligachan or around the coast from Elgol; alternatively it can be reached by boat from Elgol.
