Juvenile Pale Chanting Goshawk
This Juvenile Pale Chanting Goshawk has just successfully hunted a field mouse and suspiciously looked at us until certain we were no threat. He was sitting on an old broken tree, perfect in the open for us to have a good view. It is an opportunistic raptor and eats a wide variety of prey including small mammals, lizards, birds, large insects and carrion. This species is approximately 55 cm in length with a wingspan of 110 cm. This was shot in the Camdeboo National Park, South Africa.
