I was working at a fishing lodge in Excursion Inlet for the summer. I had the opportunity to not only see wildlife, but to live along side it. The locals burn any flammable waste, and any food waste is put in a slop bucket and discarded into the ocean. Some food from a slop bucket had washed up on the shore at low tide, attracting a hungry young black bear. It is much easier to see the impact and affect we have on the surrounding world when our daily lives are intertwined with it.
