This photograph was captured while hiking through a beautiful red pine plantation in the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness area, part of the Manistee National Forest in Michigan. The pines were planted for reforestation after the original trees were cleared during the logging boom of the late 1800's. What a beautiful restoration!
