    White rhino calves feed from a trough at a rhino orphanage in South Africa. Poachers killed the mothers of these rhinos for their horns and the calves were left for dead after witnessing the slaughter. In South Africa alone, more than three rhinos are killed every day for their horn, which is then trafficked illegally to the far east to feed demand from those who see it as a desirable status symbol and believe it has medicinal properties.
