Close to the Colorado/Utah border lies Unaweep Canyon. The Ute called the canyon, "Unaweep" meaning, the canyon with two mouths. It is the only such canyon in the world. Paradox abounds here. Journey to the high canyon and you'll see the lush pasture floor. Wander over to the Uncompahgre Plateau and you'll discover flat cattle grazing country within a ponderosa pine forest. The Precambrian rock is bathed in rich late afternoon sun. This is an ancient land of continual surprise.
