Smoky Sunset
The Pacific Ocean reflects the golden sunlight of a setting sun, but the sky is filled with a nicotine-brown-looking haze. The unusual sky color is the direct result of air-borne smoke traveling from the then-ongoing wildfires north of San Francisco Bay. I found it fascinating that the haze begins well above the horizon, resulting in a narrow strip of cleaner-looking air along the horizon itself. The photo was taken last year from the Lands End area of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
