Photograph taken during an excursion to the Teluk Cenderawasih National Park, a three-hour drive from Nabire, West Papua. Here, around these fishing platforms, you can swim with these beautiful animals. The experience leaves you breathless and in the beginning I was the only one in the water with four whale sharks, then I was joined by a group of Indonesian tourists, who tend to touch and cling to the fishes, in fact unnerving them.

I love it Marco — that whale shark is enormous in comparison to the fishing platform, I love that sense of scale. I can only imagine how awestruck those tourists must be, seeing this scene from above the water. What I really love is that you are sharing this experience from the water, splitting the frame in two. I love the curvature of the water. I love this moment. Well done.
