    The Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles) is a noisy, aggressive bird found in all Australian mainland states and Tasmania. There are two subspecies, the pictured bird being ssp. miles found in Western Australia. They tend to be found in areas of short grass or bare ground, usually near water. They grow to a length of around 38 cm. Taken near Pardoo, about 1790 km. North of Perth in Western Australia.
