We are currently experiencing rain storms and intermittent snow. In the fall, it's what we call "fallout" weather because it forces many bird species to put down in an area until the storm clears. Standing in the forest today while it was sprinkling a small flock of female Red-winged Blackbirds passed by right in front of my eyes. The image reminds me of how difficult it can be for these birds to navigate in inclement weather. They have to trust their leader to lead the way.
