This photograph was taken at 7,051 feet above sea level in Villa De Leiva, a colonial village a short three-hour drive northeast from Bogota, the capital city of Colombia. The village has a unique culture, where both the buildings-beautifully preserved, whitewashed colonial structures-and the people, feel almost frozen in time. In any direction, an onlooker can find cobblestone streets, historic churches and monasteries, and greenery bursting between cracks in the walls.
