THE LIGHTS WE MADE
Somewhere in the middle of the desert, Namaqualand, South Africa. I set up my camera, ran into the image, and yelled at my fellow small mammal biologists to spontaneously wave their headtorches around. I could not believe that we created such unique and perfect patterns! However, the lights we made paled in comparison to the Milky Way, which was accentuated by the incoming lightning storm. A reminder that there are still places on Earth virtually untouched by human hands, and they are beautiful.
