    This images was captured in Brazos Bend State park. he and a few of his buddies were sunning themselves on the edge of the lake. I tried to get eye level with him - about 50 feet away. I noticed the mouth was open - not a usual sight. You have to be careful with these beasts - they move so quickly! One moment they are on the bank and the next they have disappeared into the water with a great splash! scary and EXHILARATING! Such a powerful, dangerous animal nestled in the flowers...
