A window in the French Quarter in New Orleans Louisiana. Louisiana voodoo was brought to the area by African slaves and contained elements of charms, dolls, and amulets that were believed to protect people from harm or inflict harm on others. The Louisiana type of voodoo also blended with Catholicism over the years thus resulting in a form of voodoo that contained elements of the Catholic Religion as well as the beliefs and rituals of the original voodoo spirituality brought from Africa.
