Often touted as one of the world's best places for stargazing, it didn't take me long to appreciate why La palma is so highly regarded. Above the clouds and perched on the caldera I spent many hours capturing the milky way in greater detail than I'd ever seen before the Moon rose, the finishing touch to an incredible celestial show. Between it and the Milky way is Mars, with Saturn sitting in front of the Milky Way core and Jupiter, in opposition, shining as if to compete with the moonlight.
