For nearly two years, I have been recording the wildlife activity living in a rather unusual aquatic environment, namely the gun pit of Battery Townsley, located at the heart of Marin Headlands. California newts are among the inhabitants who have established themselves yearlong there. The battery faces West and is poorly lit most of the time. January 28, 2018 was my lucky day. The sun was low enough to lit up the entire battery and this newt put on a show for me.
