Shackleford Banks, the southern most barrier island of the North Carolina Outer Banks, has a population of 110 – 130 horses with free range over the entire island. The horses are easy to locate but may require some walking to find them. This trip followed the devastating hurricanes, Florence and Michael, and the horses survived as they have for over 400 years. I am very pleased to share these photos with you.
