THE BLACK GALAPAGOS TURTLE IS INDIGINOUS TO THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. THE SPECIES HAS A BLACK SHELL AND BLACK SKIN WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO ABSORB MORE HEAT AND KEEP THEM WARMER IN THE COOLER WATER SURROUNDING THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. THIS TURTLE HAS RED ALGAE GROWING ON IT LIKE THE VOLCANIC ROCK THAT IT IS FEEDING UPON.
