the morning commute
Monks must cross the u bein bridge every morning to meet their benefActors and solicit offerings, before returning to their monastery on the other side of the lake. Rather than the usual profile/silhouette shot, i composed this image to illustrate the long and lonely walk that each monk must make; i also wanted to contrast his fine robes with the textures of the ancient teak pillars which were taken from an abandoned royal palace when the king moved his royal court across the lake.
