Light and shadow in the woods (No. 2)
The wet forest steams under the gently warming sun, creating a sunburst among the dark trees. Little wonder most human cultures looked up to worship, revere, and fear the sun. Its eclipse, a mystical portent; dawn, a comforting vision; its arc a cycle of growth, destruction, and resurrection. Yet the same tropes appear today in our modern scientific discourses - the sun as infinite storehouse of clean energy, or relentless fiery engine of global warming. Still magical, after all these ages.
