Elephant dung
Did you know that there are palm trees in Africa? How and why do they grow there? Elephants are not only the largest terrestrial animals, they are also the longest distance mover of seeds. Seeds are eaten by the elephants and pass through the digestive tract. When they travel they drop their dung, nutrient rich lumps that when scattered around starts the growth of new, beautiful palm trees. If our precious elephants become extinct, will our planet also suffer the loss of the palm trees?
When I first saw this photo, I was really just attracted to the reflective quality and how the trees stuck out so comically agains the sky. Then I read your caption and HAHA! Who knew such a lovely little landscape could have such a comical origin?
