Edit Photo Details The winner with the right to mate all!   #bighorn_sheep #rut_season
Rut season in the Rockies is in full swing. Male bighorn sheep, Rams, fight among themselves to show their supremacy in the herd. They butt head almost 5-6 hrs a day to decide who is the dominant male in the group. Once the winner is decided he gets to mate with the females in the group for the rest of the season. Here is a shot of one such Ram posing with his Ewes lined up next to him. The Rams which could not win just move away (seen here) and at times allowed to stay in the group as well.
